Clinical Placement, Work Experience or Volunteer with
Callan Institute, Saint John of God Community Services clg.
7th May 2021
Callan Institute, as part of Saint John of God Community Services clg. provides consultation, support and training in Positive Behaviour Support (using the Multi-Element Behaviour Support Model) and Relationships and Sexuality for children and adults with intellectual disability, together with their families and staff teams.
Callan Institute has three options for people interested in gaining experience and developing their expertise in the areas we provide support and services in.
The first option is a clinical placement as part of a post-graduate academic programme where at least one of the above two areas is a key focus. The clinical placement officer from the academic course together with the student meets with the clinical supervisor (the person in Callan Institute who will supervise the student on the placement, which will be a Chartered Psychologist) at the beginning of the placement and together the learning and competencies required for the student placement are agreed. At the end of the placement, the placement supervisor together with the student and the clinical supervisor review and evaluate the placement competencies agreed.
The second option is a work experience; this is designed for an individual who has completed their post-graduate degree, again in at least one of the areas related to the work of Callan Institute and is now seeking work experience.
The third option is to volunteer; this is designed for an individual who has completed their post-graduate degree and would like to contribute to the work of Callan Institute and would like to offer their supports and services in a particular area.
If you are interested in exploring any of these options with us, please submit your CV along with a cover letter to callan@sjog.ie
